First Visitors

Grandma and Grandpa Burkle were Max's first visitors (they met him before mom!), and Grandma Diane was close behind. 

Meet Maxwell

Maxwell Clyde Harrison was born at 6:56 a.m. on Friday, May 8, weighing in at 8 lbs. 8 oz and 21.1 inches. He had to spend a few days in the NICU so he could be on oxygen, but we think that was more frustrating for the parents than it was for him. He quickly was breathing on his own, and remained on an IV until Sunday. The wires were scary, but he was just fine.

The Nursery

Maybe a better description would be "Master Bedroom/Nursery," but, hey, this will work for a few months.



We are going with an owl theme because Justin had a stuffed owl as a child (left), Danza gave us a stuffed owl when we found out we were having a baby (right), and in the movie "Rushmore," the public school mascot is also an owl. (Justin's observation.)

Getting Familiar with the Carseat

Justin and I took care of a big chore today: We learned how to install the carseat. This is Justin reading up before our appointment with the Safety Squad.

Friday Fun: A Surprise Office Shower

My office colleagues hosted a surprise shower at work today -- complete with miniature cupcakes, a slew of gifts and a gathering of friends.

Setting Up the Crib

Justin and my dad bonded over tools while setting up the crib and other baby necessities.



The crib is from Walmart's Baby Mod collection, and we were very pleased with the final product. (This is me at 34 weeks!)
