Family Getaway

We recently experienced our first family getaway to Chicago. It was our first long-ish drive and first hotel stay with both kids. They were great, and we had a blast visiting our old digs; exploring Millenium Park, Crown Fountain and the Lincoln Park Zoo; playing at the park and hanging out with good friends. We've decided to make at least two annual trips to Chicago -- one with the kids and one solo.

Little June loves her baby dolls. She likes to put them to bed -- over and over and over again. I need to capture this on video.

Fun at the Fair

Stars and Stripes and Shades

We had so much fun at the 4th of July parade. We had never taken Max (or June), and they loved it! As you can see, Harrison was an old pro. He really knew how to dress the part, but Max acted as if he was too cool for paper headbands and wore his new shades instead. Every time a "marching band" (any instruments) would pull up, Max would shout, "Look, Mom, another band!" The fire trucks, police cars and even the street sweeper at the end were all big hits, too.

Henry and June

Danza and Matt recently took Harrison and Max to a movie, and Justin and I had Henry and June. Henry napped for a good portion of the afternoon, and he was pretty non-social when he woke up. But he was a pretty good sport about sharing a snack with his little cuz.

Max and I made some granola bars recently. They didn't turn out very go (no fault of the chef!), but it was a fun activity.
