Morning Routine

Every morning, Max and I sit in the kitchen while I have breakfast. We like to smile, talk and sing. Here are some of my favorite expressions. Max prefers to stare at his reflection in the refrigerator. I would say he is vain, but I don't think he knows he is looking at himself.

Max is Mobile

Max can now scoot around in his crib. He prefers to be on his tummy, so this is how he takes naps, although I did find him with his head against the crib rails the other day.

Dad's Day

We celebrated our first Father's Day with several new dads at Danza's house in Bloomington, and it was the first time the three new cousins were together. Danza and Matt put out all the stops to make it a great weekend -- from the food to the water balloon fight to the corn hole and kiddie pool. Just as the festivities began, "Mad Max" appeared. (Max's alter ego when his colic is in full force.) But Max was back to his normal self by Sunday morning, just in time for the long drive back to Chicago.

One Month Down

Max turned one month this week. Monday was the official mark, but I wanted to wait until after today's doctor's appointment for the update. Here are the specs: Max is weighing in at 11 lbs., 11 oz., and has grown to 23 inches. He has already outgrown all of his newborn clothes! He also flashes a smile from time to time now, which has been a lot of fun.

A Crawfish Boil

Max got to attend his first crawfish boil this weekend in honor of our friend Torrence's 40th birthday. (It was actually Justin and Emily's first boil as well; Max is way ahead of the game.) We had a blast eating great food, drinking beer and visiting with friends.

What a Hoot

Here is Max in one of his darling owl outfits. He is growing so fast, and I almost didn't get it out in time.

Bathtime Fun

Finally ... Max's umbilical cord fell off, so we were able to give him a real bath. He was pretty happy in the tub, but he did not like getting out. Luckily, Grandma Burkle was here to help.
