First Steps

Max took his first steps today. It was bittersweet. We noticed he was standing on his own more and more this weekend, and walking with us holding just one hand. I got to witness it, but Justin won't get to see it in person until we're back in Chicago tomorrow. Here's the video of one of his walking stints. Our incentive was actually my nephew's shoe, which had intrigued Max all afternoon.

His Shelf

Max is becoming more confident on two feet. He will let go occasionally, but he doesn't realize he is standing on his own. It usually happens when he has two toys in his hands (or one big one).

This can't be good

Max is cruising more than ever. And now he is climbing. We had moved the coffee table against this wall so he wouldn't hit his head on it, but now it has been banished to the office (which has become a repository for all kinds of unsafe furniture and knick knacks).

At the Park

Now that he is a little bigger, Max has ventured on to more than just the swings at the park. He also enjoys the slide. But his favorite activity is cruising around and watching the other kids play. (Does that sound creepy?) Max is truly the fairest of them all, and I have to make sure he is always wearing sunscreen and a hat (if he'll keep it on). His new hair is coming in very blond, and his older hair really appears red in the sunlight.

Urban Farm

Our neighbors, Meg, Ryan and Naomi, have a chicken coop in their backyard, and they recently were surprised with 10 baby chicks. Max was allowed to see them, but he was not allowed to take any home.

Feeling Better

Max got tubes in his ears this week. After a five-week ear infection and three rounds of antibiotics, it was time. He immediately felt better after the procedure and has been sleeping a lot better, too (although still not all through the night ... fingers crossed it's in the bag by his birthday).

Bloomington Visit

Maxwell got to spend some quality time with his Grandpa Don, Aunt Danza and cousin Harrison in Bloomington last weekend. Max loved playing with all of Harrison's toys and laughing with Grandpa Don. Harrison and Max did not plan their matching outfits, but they did look cute!
