A Blue Jean Kind of Day

It's a little chilly in Chicago today, so we busted out Max's first pair of jeans. I think this look fits his new nickname -- "Handsome Max."

Out and About

Ken, Jessica and Parker were up this weekend. It was a busy couple of days with a trip to IKEA and the driving range, a tour of Wrigley Field and lots of play time on the floor and in the Bjorn. Oh, and the babies got to ride the El for the first time.

A Play Date

Our friends Anne and Alex stopped by for lunch and a play date the other day. We met at the mom's club at St. Joseph's, and Anne became my hero because she survived Alex's colic. And now he is a very happy, adorable baby ... with a great head of hair. Max is trying to impress him by rolling over.

Strummin' and Jumpin'

Justin bought me a banjo for my 30th birthday last September (you know, because I hinted about wanting new earrings for so long). It was actually a really sweet gesture because we were newly pregnant, and he was touched by this online video. I have not actually learned how to play the banjo, but don't I look artsy in these photos? And Max enjoyed the background music. (Oh, and I got the earrings when we brought Max home from the hospital.)

Major Milestone

Max was kind of bored on this lazy, rainy Sunday, so he decided to roll over for the first time! He has been rolling onto his side a lot this past week (and losing some hair because of it), and today he was reaching for a toy and just kept rolling, only getting stuck on that one arm for a few seconds. We are so proud!

Jumping

Max loves his new jumper (another loaner from his cousins Andrew Cole and John). He doesn't quite jump yet, but he can twirl on one toe. I can't believe he is getting so big. It seems we are trying something new every day.
Here are some action shots.

Facing Forward

Max has always preferred the Baby Bjorn over the stroller, and when I finally turned him around in it, it was a whole new world. So we decided to try a new stroller, which also faces forward. He is not always happy in it, but he's definitely happier, so that's a start.

At the Beach

On Sunday, we packed a picnic, rounded up some friends and spent the afternoon at the beach. The weather was perfect, and Max was perfectly happy under the umbrella. The sights and sounds wore him out, and he slept eight hours straight Sunday night. Hoping this is a new trend ...

A Chicago Dog

One of our favorite spots in our new 'hood is Huey's Hotdogs. It's the perfect place for lunch because it is quick, cheap and baby-friendly. Huey's offers an array of burgers and sandwiches, but its "signature dish" is an authentic Chicago-style hotdog. Delish.
