Video Challenge

Challenge: Try to watch this video without laughing -- or at least smiling a little. Who knew a folded up cereal box could be so funny?

It's Gettin' Hot Out Here

It was pretty warm on Sunday, so Max and I got a big bowl of water and some toys and headed outside to play. We had a lot of fun, and got lots of smiles from people strolling the sidewalks. Max loves the water, but has not been in a pool yet, so this should be an exciting summer!

Take Max to Work Day

For a couple more days, I am the communications director for One Hope United, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting children and strengthening families. One of our child development centers, the Edgewater Early Learning Center, recently unveiled a new classroom, and Alderman Mary Ann Smith attended the ribbon-cutting. The Center is located in our neighborhood, so I stopped by to take some photos and Max got to tag along.

Funny Guy

Max has started to develop a sense of humor, and this is one of his first "jokes." He can do the same trick with a pacifier. He also dances. Seriously, this is becoming more and more fun.

One is Fun!

We celebrated Maxwell's first birthday surrounded by friends and family at my parents' house in Carmel. Max was very good during the party and enjoyed playing with all of his little friends and cousins. He did not dive into his cake like I thought he would, but that could be because of the spectators. We will let him sample some sweets again sometime soon. (Cake photos courtesy of Grandpa Randy and Aunt Danza. Check out more great photos on Danza's blog.)Thanks to everyone who made this day extra special.

Mom's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all of my favorite moms.

An Investment

All new moms should invest in the Baby Bjorn "catch-all" bib. This thing is incredible and has saved me a lot of time cleaning up after Max. Plus, he will help himself to seconds from the pocket toward the end of the meal.

Feather Her Nest!

The Girls Night Girls hosted a baby shower for Hilary, and the theme was "Feather Her Nest" (got the idea from Project Nursery). We had so much fun finding ways to incorporate the theme throughout the decor, and hopefully Baby H will soon have a comfy nest.Everyone brought a book to start Baby H's library -- a wonderful surprise some friends did for me at my shower.Kari showed us a new take on your standard veggie tray.Megan made these adorable yarn bowls.
Even my mom was inspired by the theme, making this beautiful bird quilt for Hilary. Unfortunately, I did not get a good shot of it, but will soon! The girls.
The babies played very well together. And Max enjoyed playing with all of Audrey's toys.
